If you dress dolls or intend dressing dolls, then these books should be very helpful.

Fashion - Collection of the Kyoto Costume Institute - Taschen
ISBN 3-8228-1206-4

A fabulous book showing fashions and how the costumes are made, a really 'must have' addition to your collection.

Historical Fashion in Detail 17th and 18th Centuries
by Avril Hart & Susan North
V&V Publications.
ISBN: 1-85177-258-8

This book is fabulous, it shows how the costumes were hand sewn, all the wonderful stiches and it begs belief how long they took some poor , badly paid dressmakers and tailors to make.

Pattern Designing for Dressmakers by Lyn Alexander
Printed I think privately in the USA by American Speedy Printing Centres - as it has no ISBN number.
Period covered, 1870 to 1930, has patterns showing how alter.

Another Fabulous book to have is Les Petite Dames de Mode by John.R. Burbridge.
Reverie Publishing Co.
ISBN: 1-932485-06-6
This man gowned 29 inch mannequins from Victorian 1870 - 1920
Gives explanations of the fabrics and trimmings used.
