I make minibooks since five years, and in this time i tried different glues.

First Ponal - donīt try this. i know in some articles about bookbinding they say Ponal is ok for glue binding, but i found out that after while it just breaks down. You open the book and will have loose papers...my father use ponal to restore old books, but it donīt work well on minibooks

Tacky is ok, but there is something better....

just Bookbinding glue....i really tried different kinds of white pva glue, but the best and long lasting result you will have with this.

Mine is from Rayher, and it is simply the best. It is a bit more expensive than others, but the resulsts are the best

Happy bookbinding Laughing

I find araldite glue excellent for gluing metal to metal, you get a tube of resin and a tube of hardner in the pack you buy, then mix the quantity together you require,it starts setting very quickly about 10mins.

Well, Since I invested in a pot of Deluxe Materials Thick Formula Decorator Glue I haven't touched anything else. OK, it's a pain to get into (and out of!) a syringe, but for instant tackiness and solid hold it appears to be unbeatable.

Sorry if we weren't supposed to mention specific brands, but I have found even Aleene's thick Decorator Glue isn't up to this standard. It's not cheap, but it goes an awful long way.

And no, I don't have any affiliation to (or shares in!) the company.

That thick decorators glue sounds good - does it stick metal to metal, like when trying to stick Tee Pee Crafts' filigrees together?

So far, Sam, it has stuck anything to anything. Whether it is technically meant to is another matter!

I picked up a tube of Make Me glue in a local craft warehouse and I even use it in my hat making. It is for metal, glass, wood, leather and many hard plastics. There is a web site ww.kars.biz, I think it is Dutch.
Tacky glue is very good but some are harder to get out of the bottle than others, cutting open the container seems to be the only way to not waste the last bit.

I use the empty bottles of tacky glue by filling with water and shaking to mix the remaining glue. This can be used for draping. When the bottle is completely used up cut the top off as it can be used as a hat former ( brim) and the bottle can store paint brushes or pencils.

I use Copydex glue to stick wallpaper, it works wonders. My other favourite glue that sticks material for curtains, and cushions is All Purpose Bostik.

OOH...in my experience Copydex will eventually go yellow and stain...
I use Aleene's tacky glue and have done so for at least 40 years. It does not go hard on fabric like some glues, it dries clear.
